In Him Was Life

John 1:1-5
Key Verse 04:“In him was life, and the life was the light of men.”

Look at verses 1-2.

1. What/Who is the Word? Who was the Word with? (Genesis 1:26)

2. Why is it significant that the Word was “in the beginning”? (Genesis 1:1-5)

Look at verse 3.

3. What did the Word do according to verse 3?

4. Why is it important to know that “All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.”? How might this understanding help us to better know Jesus and how might it affect our relationship with him?

Look at verse 4.

5. What could it mean that in him was life? What could it mean that this life was the light of men? (Genesis 1:3)

Look at verse 5.

6. What does it mean that the light shines in the darkness? What does it mean that the darkness has not overcome the light?

7. Why might John have emphasized these things about Jesus? (In the beginning, life, and light) Why does John think that it is important for us to know these things about Jesus?
