Mark 16:1-20

1.  Read verses 1-3.  Three women are mentioned here.  How did these women serve Jesus’ ministry (Lk 8:3; Mt 27:55; Jn 19:25)?  What can we learn from their efforts to anoint Jesus’ body?      .

2.  Read verses 4-6.  What did the women see?  What is significant about the rolled away stone and opened tomb?  What was the angel’s message to them?       

3.  Read verses 7-8.  What command did the angel give the women?  What were they to tell to Peter (Mk 14:27-30)?  Why didn’t they obey?  

4.  Read verses 9-11.  Who did the risen Jesus appear to first?  What do you know about the woman named Mary Magdalene (9b)?  What did she do after meeting the risen Jesus?  Why didn’t his disciples believe her testimony?

5.  Read verses 12-14.  Who did Jesus appear to next?  Did the disciples believe them?  When Jesus appeared to the Eleven what did he rebuke them for?  

6.  Read verses 15-16.  What command did Jesus give to his disciples?  In what way is Jesus’ resurrection good news to all creation?  What must anyone do to be saved?  How do the signs in verses 17-18 reveal the power of resurrection?

7.  Read verses 19-20.  Where did Jesus go?  Yet in what respects was he with his disciples when they preached the good news?
