The Beginning of the Birth Pains

Matthew 24:01-08

“All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.”

1. Look at verses 1-2. Why do you think the disciples pointed out the buildings of the temple to Jesus? How does Jesus respond? Why do you think Jesus told them this?

2. Look at verse 3. What 2 questions do the disciples ask Jesus? Why do you think the disciples asked Jesus these questions?

3. Look at verses 4-5. What warning does Jesus give to the disciples in these verses?

   1. How can false Christs possibly lead many astray? How can we discern a false Christ and not be led astray ourselves?

4. Look at verses 6-7. What warning does Jesus give to the disciples in these verses?

   1. Why might wars, famines, and earthquakes alarm us? How can we not be alarmed when we hear and see these signs?

5. Look at verse 8. Why do you think Jesus says “these things are the beginning birth pains”? What could this metaphor imply?
