They Bowed Down and Worshiped Him

Matthew 2:1-12

Key verse 2:11a

“On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him.”

Read verses 1-2.  What Journey did the Magi make?  What question did they ask?  How did they know that the king of the Jews was born (7)?  What was their reason for coming to see him?  What can we learn from the Magi (footnote 2:1)?

Read verses 3-8.  How did Herod respond to the news that the king of the Jews was born?  How did the chief priests and teaches of the law know where the Christ was to be born?  What does the prophesy say about who Jesus is?  Did the chief priests and teachers of the law go to worship him?  Did Herod want to worship him?  

Read verses 9-12.  How did the star lead the Magi to the place where the child was?  How did they respond when the saw the star?  How did they respond when they saw the child?  What can we learn from their worship?  Did they go back and tell Herod?
