Matthew 1:18-25

Key verse 1:23

“The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”—which means “God with us.”

Read verse 18-19.  How did Mary become pregnant (Luke 1:35)?  What does this show about the child in her womb?  What kind of man was Joseph?  What did he plan to do when he found out Mary was pregnant? 

Read verses 20-21?  How did God help Joseph?  What name was he to give the child to be born?  What does the name ‘Jesus’ mean?  

Read verses 22-23.  What shows that God keeps his promises?  What does Immanuel mean?  How did God plan to be with us?  What difference does it make to have God with us? 

Read verses 24-25.  What did Joseph do when he woke up?  How did he obey God?
