Whoever Does the Will of My Father

Whoever Does the Will of My Father

Matthew 12:46-50

Key verse 12:50

“For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

Read verses 46-47.  Why might have Jesus’ mother and brothers wanted to speak with him (Mark 3:20-21)?  What does this show about them?  Have you ever had others misunderstand you when you were trying to do something good?  How did you feel at that time?  How do you think Jesus was able to overcome being misunderstood?

Read verse 48-50.  Why did Jesus ask “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?”  How did he answer his own question?  According to Jesus, who are his brother and sister and mother?  What can we learn about the life of Jesus’ disciples?  What can we learn about Jesus’ relationship with them?  How can we do the will of God?  Why is it sometimes not easy to do God’s will?
