A Prophet Without Honor

Matthew 13:53-58

Key verse 13:57b

But Jesus said to them, "Only in his hometown and in his own house is a prophet without honor."

Read verses 53-54a.  Where did Jesus go?  What did Jesus do in his hometown?  How did the people respond to Jesus teaching at first?  What can we learn from Jesus who taught the Bible to people of his hometown?      

Read verses 54b-57a.  What questions did the people ask?  What problem did they have?  How did they respond to Jesus’ teaching in the end?

3.  Read verses 57b-58.  Why isn’t a prophet honored in his hometown or in his own house?  Why didn’t Jesus do many miracles?  Why is the work of faith so important?  What stood in the way of the people’s faith?
