The Parable of the Weeds

The Parable of the Weeds

Matthew 13:24-30; 36-43

Key verse 13:30

1.  Read verses 24-28a.  What is this parable about (24)?  What did the man do?  But, what did his enemy do?

2.  Read verses 28b-30.  What did the man’s servant ask?  What was the man’s answer?  Why didn’t the man let the servant pull up the weeds?  What other plan did he have?

3.  Read verse 36-39.  What did the disciples ask Jesus after the crowd had left?  Who is the man who sowed good seed in Jesus’ parable?  What does the good seed stand for?  What do the weeds stand for?  Who is the enemy that sows the weeds?

4.  Read verses 40-43.  What does Jesus mean by “the end of the age” (38)?  What will happen to people who do evil at the end of the age?  What will happen to the righteous (those who do right)?  What can we learn about the world through this parable?  How should be prepare for God’s kingdom; knowing that God doesn’t take evil people out of this world until the judgment
