I Am the Light of the World

John 8:2-12

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world, Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

1. Read verses 2-5. What was the situation of the woman brought before Jesus? 

2. Read verses 6-9. Why did the teachers of the law and Pharisees bring this woman to Jesus? What did Jesus help them to realize about themselves? 

3. Read verses 10-11. What did Jesus say to her? What difference do you think this encounter with Jesus made in her life? 

 

4. Read verse 12. What did Jesus reveal about himself? What is the function of light? Why is Jesus the "light of the world"? What happens when we follow Jesus? 

5. What does Jesus' identity as the Light of the World mean for people these days?
