Genesis 43:1-44:34

Key Verse 44:33

“Now then, please let your servant remain here as my lord’s slave in place of the boy, and let the boy return with his brothers. 

Read V1-14. Why did Judah refuse to go back to Egypt for food despite of the severe famine? When and how was Jacob finally persuaded to send Benjamin? 

Read V15-34. Whey they arrived in Egypt with Benjamin, how did Joseph receive them? Why were they so frightened and upset? How did the steward reassure them? Describe their meeting with Joseph. Why was Joseph so moved? Describe the banquet in Joseph’s house.

Read V44:1-13. What serious problem did Joseph create for his brothers as they were leaving Egypt? Why did he do this? 

Read V14-34. How did the brothers respond to the crisis? How have they changed? Look at Judah’s plea. What is the basis of his plea? What did he offer to do on Benjamin’s behalf? Why? How ash he been changed? How did God use Joseph to bring his brothers to repentance?
