CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST

Galatians 2:1-21

Key Verse 2:20

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

Look at verses 1-5. Why did Paul go up to Jerusalem to visit the church leaders (cf. Acts 15)? Who are the "false brothers" Paul mentions? What did their teaching consist of? Why is this kind of teaching so dangerous to believers? How did Paul deal with these false teachers? Why is this attitude about the gospel essential?

Look at verses 6-10. What was the outcome of Paul's visit and inquiry? How did this information help the recipients of this letter?

Look at verses 11-13. Describe the problem that arose at the church in Antioch? Why was this problem offensive to Paul so that he "opposed [Peter] to his face"? Why did Peter do this? What can we learn from his mistake and Paul's attitude towards the gospel truth?

Look at verses 14-16. What was Paul's point to the "Jews" who were listening to him? As Jews what had they discovered about the law and about Jesus?

Look at verses 17-21. What point is Paul making in verses 17 and 18? What spiritual event is Paul describing in verse 19 and 20? How can a believer experience the benefits of Jesus' sacrifice? What kind of life does a believer in Christ need to live?
