Jesus Washes His Disciples’ Feet

(The full extent of his love)

John 13:1-17

Key Verse 1

It was just before the Passover Feast.
Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father.
Having loved his own who were in the world,
he now showed them the full extent of his love.

1. Read verse 1.  What was the time?  Why was this Passover time special for Jesus?  How did he show his love to his own? (1)

2. Read verses 2-5.  What had the devil already prompted Judas Iscariot to do? (2)  What did Jesus know about himself? (3)  How did Jesus demonstrate his love to all his disciples including Judas? (4-5)

3. Read verses 6-11.  Why do you think Peter responded this way? (6)  Why did Jesus say, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me”? (7-8)  What is the difference between washing your feet and having a bath? (10a)

4. Read verses 12-17.  What did Jesus want us to learn from his example? (12-15)  Why ought  we to follow his example? (16)  What did he mean by, “you will be blessed if you do them?” (17)
